Deanwood Access Statement

Deanwood Campsite is located on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean, three miles from the nearest town of Lydney and half a mile from the village of Yorkley. 
The approach to the site is a level asphalt road. The site is gently sloping with chipping paths and hard standing areas, and grass camping fields beyond. The car park has a chipping surface. There are lights at night over the doorways to the shower & toilet block, and the lights inside these blocks come on automatically when someone enters. The top shower block, nearest the site entrance, has a separate washroom /toilet  for use by those with impaired mobility.


Train. The nearest station is Lydney approximately 4 miles away. There is no taxi-rank at the station but taxis can be pre-booked e.g. K & T Taxis tel 01594 845913 / 07950 274720 or Taxicabs tel 01594 843456.
Bus. The nearest bus station is Lydney approximately 3 miles away. Buses from Lydney to Yorkley are very infrequent. There are no buses from the train station to Yorkley.
Walking / Cycling. The approach to Yorkley from Lydney is quite steep and along narrow country roads without footpaths or street lighting.
Mobility Centre The nearest is Fairways Mobility Centre in Coleford, approximately 6 miles away. Tel 01594 836807. They have wheelchairs and scooters for hire and will deliver.
Shopping can be pre-ordered online from for delivery to the campsite.


Check-in is at Deanwood House, approximately 100m from the top car park. If required and we are notified in advance, we can meet you at your car to advise you of your pitch. Cars can be parked on the hard standing pitches. There may be occasions when cars are not allowed on the grass fields, depending on ground conditions.
